Barre workouts are a fusion of yoga, pilates, strength training, and ballet. These workouts incorporate specific sequencing patterns and isometric movements that target specific muscle groups and help to improve strength, balance, flexibility and posture. The graceful movements inspired by ballet allow participants to experience a dance element in the workouts and achieve a healthy and toned physique.
Jan’s Barre class is essentially a no-impact, high energy class that combines barre work, body weight exercises and light weights with continual fat burning motion. Jan’s Barre class focuses on isometric movements as well as compound movements to help prevent injuries. And, just because barre is no-impact doesn’t mean it’s easy. The workout offers toning and resistance exercises for the seat, legs, torso and upper body to sculpt muscles and elongate the appearance of the body. During this high energy barre session, students will get a total body workout with a feel-good burn. You’ll not only be burning fat and building muscle in this class, you’ll be increasing flexibility and muscle definition. A Barre workout can even help to reduce stress because its fun! Modifications and alignment are taught in every class so each student is safe, yet challenged to their own capabilities because Barre is for everybody!
Jan is a nationally certified Barre Abovetm instructor and is currently enrolled in the YogaFit Teacher training certification program. Her passion for building musically diverse playlists, which make her students want to move and groove, is evident in every Barre class that she teaches.
All fitness levels are welcome because modifications are easily made to accommodate participants of all levels! All props will be provided. Please bring a yoga mat if you have one. Participants can be barefoot or have on sticky socks.
